Premium Small Batch Highland Cattle

Small Batch Cattle Co. is a Michigan farm focused on raising distinctive Highland and Highland-cross cattle with quality genetics, sound temperaments, and plenty of character. While the Small Batch Cattle Co. name is new, our foundation herd has been together for more than four years. These are cattle we know—not simply by pedigree or ear tag, but individually. We know their personalities, their family lines, their strengths, and the traits we want to carry forward into future generations.

Our breeding program is anchored by Louie, our silver Highland herd sire and a son of the legendary Leonardo of Hairy Heifer Cattle Co. in Texas. We are especially excited about the calves he is producing and the influence those genetics will have as we continue developing our herd.

The name Small Batch reflects how we intend to grow: deliberately. We aren't interested in producing cattle in volume. Our goal is to maintain a manageable herd where thoughtful breeding decisions can be made one pairing at a time, calves can be followed as individuals, and quality remains more important than quantity.

We appreciate the unmistakable look of Highland cattle, but our priorities go beyond the hair and horns. Temperament, structure, genetics, maternal ability, and overall quality all matter when deciding which cattle become part of our breeding program.

Most of all, we simply enjoy these cattle. They are raised on our Michigan farm as a herd, with room to graze, grow, raise their calves, and be cattle.
